He has degrees in Mechanical Engineering and Economics. After a distinguished career in the petroleum and energy sectors he was appointed as an Ambassador to USA in 2000. Subsequently he was appointed in February 2004 – February 2007. - Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the Kingdom of Belgium and Head of Mission of Bosnia and Herzegovina to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization in Brussels. H.E. Sven Alkalaj is fluent in English and French and has some knowledge of Spanish and has extensive knowledge of business in Europe.
