The fashion world is waking up to an increasing consumer desire for eco-couture as a growing clientele wants premium fabrics that look good while doing good for the planet. In light of this, Lenzing is proud to announce the launch of TENCEL™ Luxe, a breakthrough sustainable cellulosic filament yarn designed specifically for the luxury market with the most intricate details in mind. To bring its promise of eco-couture to life, Lenzing has partnered with three up-and-coming young designers and tasked them with interpreting their unique visions using TENCEL™ Luxe, the industry’s new revolutionary filament: Quoï Alexander, Peet Dullaert and Fiona Fondadouze. Together they have created 6 silhouettes using the new material that they showed at an exclusive launch event for TENCEL™ Luxe in Palais de Tokyo, Paris.
Fiona Fondadouze: styles that adapt to any situation
At the age of 22, Fiona Fondadouze is one of the fashion industry’s rising stars recognized for her attention to detail and experimental approach. Bringing together the parallel universes of high-fashion and sportswear, her signature brand AKENE combines comfort with an assertive style. Fiona has used TENCEL™ Luxe branded lyocell filament to develop silhouettes that complement the modern woman who is looking for styles that allow for gracious draping and movement.
“My aesthetic means that I need fabrics that can relate to a modern woman and her elaborate needs to be comfortable yet assertively stylish and present. Partnering with Lenzing has been an important part of this journey, as I recognize the growing need from my clientele to use fabrics that have a greater environmental impact, made possible by this sustainable filament.”
Peet Dullaert — where contemporary meets eco-couture
Peet founded his eponymous label at the age of 23 and as creative director, he is intrinsically linked to all aspects of the design process. Peet has embraced the trend of metamorphosis to bring to life a silhouette using TENCEL™ Luxe that drapes in a contemporary and empowered shape.
“I am thrilled to partner with Lenzing to launch TENCEL™ Luxe as part of my brand’s overall aim to contribute to a more sustainable industry. Sustainability is key for me as a brand as we are constantly looking for ways to further our responsible production cycle. Additionally, it is important for me to ensure that we don’t compromise on material style or quality and TENCEL™ Luxe really helps meet this need.”
Quoi Alexander: combining elaborate form and function
An interdisciplinary fashion designer originally from California, Quoi‘s esthetic embraces innovation and modernity through bold silhouettes, cuts and colors. Quoi has worked for a number of iconic brands including Chanel, Sonia Rykiel and Alexander McQueen and has been commissioned to create looks for Beyoncé, Naomi Campbell and Tilda Swinton. Quoi has used TENCEL™ Luxe to create silhouettes with intrinsic ruching details that are both functional and elaborate, one of his signature takes that has already been recognized by influential fashion titles such as Vogue UK, i-D and Dazed and Confused.
“Above all else, the quality of fabrics made out of premium filament and the way they look as the end-product are essential for me as a visual storyteller. My esthetic and brand vision means that I need fabrics and filaments that are able to form bold silhouettes, that drape beautifully and hold color. TENCEL™ Luxe by Lenzing matches all of these needs as demonstrated through the silhouettes that have strong form with intricate details and I’m delighted to have partnered with Lenzing for this special project.”
LENZING GROUP: leading the sustainable fashion revolution
TENCEL™ Luxe inherit the eco-friendly properties of TENCEL™ branded lyocell fibers, which are successful and sustainable fibers in the textile industry to offer natural comfort to the consumer.
