As First Lady, shemade three trips to Afghanistan and in 2001 she delivered the President’sweekly radio address — a first for a First Lady — to direct internationalattention to the Taliban’s oppression of women. In 2016, she wrote theintroduction to the book We Are AfghanWomen: Voices of Hope published by the George W. Bush Institute.
