An overwhelming response to the SKSMC Blood Donation Drive shows that Malaysians care for the well-being of the nation.

Klang, Selangor, 8th April 2022 – Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre Klang in collaboration with HTAR Klang held a blood donation drive at AEON Bukit Tinggi, Klang on Saturday, 2nd April 2022. The drive saw a total of 128 successful donors.

At the event, Pusat Sumber Transplan Nasional joined hands to increase awareness of organ donation to improve the quality of life of people as receiving an organ can become a life-changing incident for a person.

During the full-day event that began at 10 am and ended at 5 pm, donors and families were treated to free basic health screening that included blood pressure checks, blood glucose tests and Body Mass Index checks.

According to the organiser, with hospitals returning to normal and operations being scheduled, hospitals are in need of blood for surgical treatments such as cardiac surgery, organ transplantation, management of thalassemia, haemophilia and patients with anaemia depend on blood transfusion. The efforts to supply enough blood for patients will not succeed without the kind support from the general public for their life-saving gifts of blood.

Various booths were set up to shed health awareness to all visitors.

“Blood donation is a gift of life. We are thankful for the collaboration and support of our esteemed partners, as well the NGOs who championed the event such as Transhub Group of Companies, Persatuan Tan Klang & Pantai Klang, Persatuan Yuan Man, and Gardenia Bakeries (KL) Sdn Bhd. Your thoughtful and caring involvement was truly appreciated”, said the organiser.

During the event, booths were also set up to enlighten the public on organ donation, and various other healthcare issues. Each donor was given a goodie bag as a gesture of appreciation.

The drive saw donors from all walks of life, including those who were medically challenged too.

Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre is geared to have more blood donation drives with caring sponsors in the future to raise awareness among the community and promote the lifesaving cause. For every blood donation, at least three lives can be saved.
